Redesign work

Some of you may already be aware that many jewellers (myself included) cannot melt down platinum or 18ct white gold, due to their high melting point. However, this doesn't mean that the metals you have are useless! With a little bit of imagination, it is possible to re work the existing metal without having to melt it!

Believe it or not, this is the same ring! All I've done is make a couple of cuts and added the settings to completely transform it from the style on the left, which the customer felt was too heavy for her now, to the modern, lighter style on the right. And, due to being able to use this metal in this way, the cost of producing a 'new' ring was at least 5 times less of what it would cost to start from scratch!
