First Day on the Wall.
An early ish start at 8am to have breakfast and head off on our first visit to the wall. Just a fifteen minute drive took us to our destination and we caught our first glimpse of the famous Great Wall of China.
Today was a ‘warm up’ day to give us an idea of what to expect for the longer upcoming days. By warm up, I’m
guessing they meant temperature as despite the mist in the area, it was super hot….and the constant up and down steps definitely got the temperature rising.
Even though the mist hid the vista, the immense structure of the wall was still apparent in the near distance, and also the number of steps which faced us!
In fact, todays step count stands at just under 12,000 but the more impressive fact is that we climbed the equivalent of 110 floors😱 in under 3 miles.
Tomorrow is the long day which today was preparing us for. 13km along two separate sections of the wall, with a trek through a village in the middle.
Here’s hoping for some clear skies and beautiful scenery😁
Well done on first day Karen, we are with you in spirit as your journey gets harder. All the family are cheering you on.
Looks amazing
